Independent Workplace Investigations in New Zealand
When a serious complaint is raised at work, the employer must look into it fairly before making any decision. Sherwood Holmes Investigations carries out independent workplace investigations for organisations across New Zealand. Every investigation is led by Rose Ayers, a licensed private investigator, AWI Certificate Holder and former NZ Police Detective Sergeant.
What we investigate
Bullying and harassment, including sexual harassment
Misconduct and serious misconduct
Employment-related complaints
Allegations against managers and senior leaders
Multi-party matters and organisation-wide complaint processes
Suspected fraud or dishonesty by employees
When to use an independent investigator
Many workplace issues can be handled by a manager or HR. An independent investigator is usually the better choice when:
the allegations are serious and could lead to dismissal
the person complained about is senior, or is someone HR reports to
several people are involved, or accounts conflict
the organisation's own staff could be seen as having a conflict of interest
internal capacity is stretched
the matter is likely to be tested later in the Employment Relations Authority
If you're unsure, a confidential first conversation will help decide whether a formal investigation is needed.
